In the Clover Kingdom, magic governs social standing, authority, and destiny. Every citizen is born with the innate gift to harness mana—except for an energetic orphan named Asta. Left on the doorstep of a remote village church alongside his gifted foster brother Yuno, Asta faces daily prejudice and ridicule for possessing zero magical capability. Refusing to accept a predetermined fate of mediocrity, he pushes his physical body through brutal, non-stop physical conditioning, setting his sights on an impossible ambition: rising through the ranks to claim the title of Wizard King.

When the boys reach adolescence and attend the grimoire acceptance ceremony, Yuno claims the legendary four-leaf clover grimoire of immense power. Asta initially receives nothing, only to be chosen moments later by a mysterious, tattered five-leaf grimoire. Infused with Anti-Magic, this corrupted tome grants him giant blades capable of cutting through, deflecting, and nullifying any spell thrown his way. Joining the notorious Black Bulls brigade, Asta takes on rogue mages, ancient curses, and demonic threats, proving that sheer grit and determination can rival the strongest spells in existence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Asta possess zero magic?
Asta was born without mana due to a biological condition connected to his mother, whose body naturally drained life force and magic from living beings around her. Because he completely lacks mana, Asta is uniquely capable of channeling raw Anti-Magic through his swords without having his own power drained.

What is the significance of the five-leaf grimoire?
Standard grimoires in the Clover Kingdom feature three leaves representing faith, hope, and love. A four-leaf grimoire contains rare good fortune. When a four-leaf grimoire is corrupted by absolute despair, a fifth leaf opens, making it a vessel capable of housing a demon.
