Set during the bloody Warring States period of ancient China, the narrative of Kingdom follows Xin, a stubborn war orphan who dreams of escaping his lowborn status to become the greatest general under the heavens. Alongside his childhood friend Piao, he trains daily in their small, impoverished village, hoping that martial prowess will pave their way to glory. However, their aspirations are abruptly shattered when Piao is recruited for a dangerous double-to-the-king scheme, only to return on the verge of death after a violent palace coup. Driven by grief and a final promise to his dying companion, Xin embarks on a dangerous journey to find the exiled king, Ying Zheng, and aid him in reclaiming the throne.

This fateful alliance sparks an epic military campaign aimed at achieving the ultimate, seemingly impossible goal: the unification of China's seven warring states. As Xin integrates himself into the Qin military, he must navigate massive battlefield strategies, lethal political machinations, and clash with legendary warlords who possess decades of combat experience. Every battle is a brutal lesson in survival, force multipliers, and leadership, forcing a rash boy to grow into a formidable commander. The story masterfully balances massive grand-scale warfare with intimate personal rivalries, showcasing the heavy cost of ambition and the true weight of a soldier's dream.
