Step away from the flashy spotlights and corporate endorsement deals of mainstream pro hero agencies to experience the gritty underside of society in My Hero Academia Vigilantes. While official champions occupy the headlines and battle catastrophic threats, everyday streets harbor a different breed of justice seeker. Koichi Haimawari lacks the elite pedigree, top-tier scores, or prestigious licenses required to operate legally. Yet, armed with a modest transformation Quirk and an irrepressible sense of civic duty, he spends his spare time sweeping up trash and helping lost commuters. His informal good deeds abruptly shift into high-octane survival when a chance clash with local street toughs throws him into an accidental alliance with a burly, brooding brawler and a mysterious pop-idol vigilante.

Operating outside the law transforms these well-meaning amateurs into underground targets hunted by both criminal syndicates and strict local law enforcement. Without specialized academy training or high-end gear, the trio relies entirely on street smarts, sheer grit, and awkward teamwork to navigate a landscape populated by dangerous Quirk traffickers and the ominous distribution of a performance-enhancing drug known as Trigger. As the stakes escalate far beyond simple neighborhood patrols, Koichi and his companions uncover unsettling truths about the architecture of their society. This action-packed prequel expands the beloved universe with raw emotional depth, high-stakes combat, and a heartfelt exploration of what it genuinely means to be a hero without wearing a badge.

Koichi Haimawari, operating under the alias The Crawler, starts as a low-level do-gooder whose sliding mobility Quirk makes him surprisingly slippery in a pinch, even if he lacks offensive punch. He is soon joined by Knucklehead, a gruff, unlicensed martial artist who pushes Koichi past his comfort zone with brutal training and uncompromising moral standards. Completing the chaotic dynamic is Pop Step, an energetic underground pop singer who uses her leaping Quirk for distraction and morale, masking her own dangerous secrets as the trio fights to protect the dark corners of the city.
